This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on haldenandcompany.com, what each group does, and how to turn off the ones that are not essential.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser between page loads, which is how a shopping cart survives you clicking through to another page. Some cookies are deleted when you close the browser, and others stay for a set period.

What we use, and why

Strictly necessary

These make the store function. Without them you could not add an item to a cart or check out. They cannot be switched off from this site.

  • Cart and session cookies set by Shopify, which remember the contents of your cart and keep you signed in through checkout.
  • Security cookies used to detect fraudulent activity and protect the checkout.
  • Consent and preference cookies which record any privacy choice you make here, so we do not have to ask again.

Analytics

Shopify sets first-party analytics cookies, commonly named _shopify_y and _shopify_s, which count visits and tell us which pages are actually used. This data is aggregated and we use it to decide what to fix on the site. It is not used to build an advertising profile about you.

Advertising

We do not currently run advertising or retargeting pixels on this store. If we add any, this page will be updated to name them before they go live, and they will be covered by the opt-out below.

Do we ask for consent

We ship only within the United States. No US state currently requires a website to obtain opt-in consent before setting analytics cookies, which is why you will not see a blocking cookie wall here. Several states do give you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising. You can exercise that right at any time using the link below, whether or not we are running ads.

If you are visiting from outside the United States, your local law may give you stronger rights. Email us and we will apply them.

How to control cookies

  • Use our Your Privacy Choices page to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or extension. We treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out for that browser, automatically.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser lets you do this per site. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working.

Third parties that can set cookies here

  • Shopify, which hosts the store and runs the checkout.
  • PayPal, but only if you choose PayPal at checkout and are sent to their pages.

We do not embed third-party video players, chat widgets, social feeds, or comment systems, so none of those set cookies on this site.

Changes

If the cookies we use change, the date at the top of this page changes with them.
